Del Rey Avocado grows and sources a number of varieties to meet year-round demand for our premium fruit. Below is a list and description and characteristics of each variety offered by Del Rey Avocado. Most of our varieties are available in both organic and conventional growing methods. For more information on other varieties, visit the California Avocado Commission.

Product Variety Description Size Appearance
Hass Hass The leading variety of California Avocado with an excellent shelf life. Average to large, 5 to 12 ounces Pebbly, thick but pliable green skin. Pale green flesh with creamy texture. Skin turns from green to purplish-black when ripe.
Lamb Hass Lamb Hass A summer fruit, known for its large size and exceptional flavor. Medium to large, from 11 to 18 ounces. Looks and ripens like a Hass avocado, oval shaped, medium sized seed. Skin darkens as it ripens, yields to gentle pressure.
Reed Reed The summertime variety. Medium to large, from 8 to 18 ounces. Thick green skin with slight pebbling, creamy flesh, skin remains green when ripe.
Bacon Bacon The mid-winter variety. Medium, ranging from 6 to 12 ounces. Smooth green skin, yellow flesh, skin remains green when ripe.
Gem Gem New variety to industry, known for good quality late Spring, early Summer. Medium to large, 8 to 14 ounces. Look and taste very similar to Hass. Skin darkens when ripe.
